Labels of Love

Sketchbook experiments. Photos. Collage. Lots of my scribbles are about love recently. Maybe its the weather....

Time Is Golden

So i got commissioned to create a work as a surprise present to celebrate some oldskool family friends Sylv and Johnny's 50th wedding Anniversary. Hope they like when it arrives in Malta and enjoy many more years together! They have a strong history associated with both Malta and Pompey. I was originally thinking about referencing both places with images/items representing both places within the image. However I decided that focusing around the time, love and colour pallette of gold gave a far more meaningful image. It is after all about celebrating their time together. Absolute legends x

I appear

Stuck for ideas?

I was a bit stuck for gift ideas this year, until I found these discarded shopping list from some unwitting pompey residents at ASDA. Hopefully I will find some more over the festive season. Happy Holidays
"How to treat a Lady" For the female in your life. Who wouldnt be happy with some PJs, an Itunes voucher, perfume and a set from boots, all topped off with an evening in your new sexy underwear and button mushrooms......
"How to treat a Lad" For the man in your life. For more fun than you can shake a festive stick at this year, get your man four types of publication including "take a breack", the stimulant drink known as "coffeee" finished off with a smoke of tocco and a chicken and bacon salad.

Lets take a walk...

Lets take a walk, Hold hands, Swing from crooked branches. Shake crumbs, From a blanket made for Picnics. Fall asleep long before the embers, As the day lingers, With the ash upon my cigarette.

STRONG ISLAND EXHIBITION WORK

I was born in Portsmouth, England and have lived here all my life. Portsmouh is an Island upon the South coast and renowned for having a strong naval heritage yet often notorious for our island mentality. Over the past few years Portsmouth an Southsea has been building upon its wealth of creative talent within the city. Part of the goings on and activities across the city are blogged about regularly by an unfunded and independent website. www.strong-island.co.uk.

The website has a large following within the city and recently was able to hold it's first ever exhibition at the re-opening of the historical Round Tower in Old Portsmouth. It hadn't been open to the public in a few hundred years. The exhibition featured over 30 local and homegrown creatives work. I was lucky enough to be asked to create some pieces for the show, in response to the brief "Strong Island and what it means to you"

I used a local skateshops famous "Southsea Bronx Strong Island" logo as an outline for my work, then forged three images relating to things I love about the city, Hate about it, and the Historical elements. Hence the title. The images are mixed media alongside collaged ephemera and found objects. Each piece has a very specific colour pallette and are approx 60cm square.

The exhibition had over 4000 visitors in space of two weeks. I was extremely proud to be a part of it. Here's to the next one and the continuation of the love and pride we have in our strong island.

I hope you enjoy x

1. Love it 2. Or hate it 3. Admit it we've got history

Work from The Futurators

These are two pieces of work I created for the Futurators open source show, held at the Third Floor Arts centre in the Library down town and at Aspex in Gunwharf. Tried to incorporate a theme of looking forward/ to the future. The show was curated and put together by a group of teenagers and the education team at Aspex. It was pretty rad to say the least.

Anyways enjoy
